Phase 1 of the Grass River Natural Area focused on replacing the existing boardwalk and establishing a new durable, environmentally sensitive foundation for the trail system, setting the tone for future replacements. This initial phase introduced a series of elevated walkways carefully positioned to protect the wetlands while giving visitors safe, year-round access through the preserve. Built with precision-crafted structural components and materials selected to withstand moisture and seasonal shifts, Phase 1 emphasized stability, longevity, and minimal ecological impact. The result is a clean, sturdy boardwalk that enhances the visitor experience while preserving the delicate surroundings it was designed to showcase.
